The recipient of the Science and Technology Award from the Nigerian Peoples Forum, Dr. Francisca Oboh-Ikuenobe was named a Woman of Legacy by Voices of Edo Women.

With more than 35 years of professional experience, Dr. Oboh-Ikuenobe has been a professor at the Missouri University of Science and Technology since 2005, having been an associate professor since 1997 and an assistant professor since 1991. In addition to her primary roles, she was the interim department chairperson from 2015 to 2017, the program head of geology and geophysics from 2006 to 2014, and an associate department chairperson from 2005 to 2006. Prior to joining this institution, she flourished as a geologist and palynologist with GEOTREX Systems, Ltd., in 1987. Earlier in her career, Dr. Oboh-Ikuenobe was a palynologist with Shell Petroleum Company in 1984, where she was a production geologist from 1983 to 1984.
Dr. Oboh-Ikuenobe first pursued an education with the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1983. She continued her studies with the school, earning a Master of Science in 1987. She then joined the University of Cambridge, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in 1991. Dr. Oboh-Ikuenobe is a registered geologist in the state of Missouri.
A respected voice in her areas of interest, Dr. Oboh-Ikuenobe has been affiliated with a number of professional organizations. A former director of the Association for Women Geoscientists Foundation, she is a member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the Missouri Academy of Science, and SEPM Society of Sedimentary Geology. Dr. Oboh-Ikuenobe has also been active with the Geological Society of America, The American Association of Petroleum Geologists, AASP-The Palynological Society, the Optimist Club, Sigma Xi, and the American Geophysical Union.
Throughout her career, Dr. Oboh-Ikuenobe has been recognized for her contributions, including having been named Woman of the Year by the Missouri University of Science and Technology. The recipient of three Missouri University of Science and Technology Faculty Excellence Awards, she is a grantee of the National Science Foundation and the American Chemical Society. The recipient of the Science and Technology Award from the Nigerian Peoples Forum, she was named a Woman of Legacy by Voices of Edo Women. Dr. Oboh-Ikuenobe is a fellow of the Geological Society of America and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
