With more than 35 years of professional experience in public accounting, Ms. Foster, a founding partner of the firm Abrams, Foster, Nole, and Williams from 1983 to 2014, was the audit partner. Prior to obtaining this role, she was an audit manager with Taylor, Williams, and Associates, CPA, between 1982 and 1983, and an audit senior with Alexander Grant and Company, CPA, from 1981 to 1982, having been an auditor with the company since 1979. Earlier in her career, Ms. Foster further excelled as an instructor with Morgan State University and Towson State University, for a short time. Ms. Foster was briefly employed at Morgan State University upon graduation, as an accountant from 1978 to 1979. Ms. Foster served on the Accounting Boards for the Universities and was speaker on several occasions at high schools and colleges to share her experiences and to encourage students to achieve their goals.
Ms. Foster first pursued an education with Morgan State University, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in accounting in 1978. Upon graduation she was recognized with awards for Academic Honors National Executives Institute, and Graves School Advancement Award. Ms. Foster became a licensed CPA in 1979 in Maryland. She continued her studies with the University of Baltimore, earning a Master of Science in financing in 1981.
In addition to her career in public accounting, Ms. Foster engaged in community and civic organizations from 1982 through 2008; A member of the Greater Baltimore Committee, the treasurer of the National Association of Black Accountants, the small business committee and volunteer services committee of the Maryland Association of CPAs, as well as the Quality Higher Education Initiative. She served on the Governor's Workforce Investment Board, Baltimore City from 2002 – 2008 and as Vice Chair from 2006 – 2008. Ms. Foster has the honor of having served on the Maryland State Board of Public Accountancy from 1996 - 2002 having served as Board Chair 2000 - 2002. In addition, Ms. Foster served on the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy from 2001 -2008 on several committees.
Throughout her career, Ms. Foster has been recognized for her contributions. The recipient of the Theta Award, she has received multiple citations for serving on the board of accountancy. Ms. Foster has likewise been featured in numerous honors publications.
