Supported by more than 55 years of experience in business management and engineering, Dr. Wyndrum most recently served as an executive engineering consultant from 2000 until his retirement in 2019. Prior to this appointment, he served AT&T Laboratories in myriad roles beginning in 1995, including as the director of the Process Engineering Center, the Technology vice president, the vice president of program management, the vice president and an executive consultant. At the inception of his career in 1963, he was employed by Bell Laboratories as a member of the technical staff, and he subsequently ascended the ranks to supervisor of exploratory circuit design, head of the loop transmission technology department, head of the advanced loop transmission system department, head of the international loop system department, director of the System Analysis Center, director of the Quality Process Center, and director of quality, engineering, software and technologies.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Dr. Wyndrum was also the president of the Innovation Institute in Washington, DC, from 2007 to 2009. Likewise, he served the Stevens Institute of Technology (1980-1988) and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey (2004-2015) as an adjunct professor. A contributor of articles to esteemed professional journals, Dr. Wyndrum is also a patentee in his field.
To prepare for his career, Dr. Wyndrum pursued formal education at Columbia University in New York City, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 1959, a Master of Science in electrical engineering in 1960, and a Master of Science in business administration in 1978. During this time, he also attended New York University, obtaining a Doctor of Engineering Science in 1963.
A Fellow and lifetime member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Dr. Wyndrum also served the IEEE on their board of directors, as the vice president of publications, as the vice president of technical activities, and on their executive committee, having previously served the New Jersey Coast Section as the vice chair and chair. In 2016 he served as president of IEEE USA in Washington, D.C. Likewise, he has served as the chair of the Environmental Commission of Fair Haven, New Jersey, since 2010. Furthermore, he has been the president of the Monmouth chapter of the English-Speaking Union since 2016 and was the vice chair of the Fair Haven Planning Board in 2015. Other organizations with which Dr. Wyndrum is affiliated include the American Association of Engineering Societies, the IEEE Communications Society, Sigma Xi: The Scientific Research Honor Society and the Shrewsbury River Yacht Club.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Wyndrum has accrued numerous accolades. The recipient of a President's Leadership Award from the IEEE in 1991, he has also been listed in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World. Although he has accomplished much over the years, Dr. Wyndrum cites the highlight of his career to be raising four successful children with his wife of 60 years, Meta.
