WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI, October 25, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Marlin D. Schneider with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Schneider celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A former state legislator and educator, Mr. Schneider taught at Lomira, Wisonsin High School and Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids for six years before running for office in 1970. To his surprise, he won. Leaving his career in education, he spent 40 successful years in politics, retiring from the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2010 as chairman of the committee on privacy. A member of District 72 and District 59, Mr. Schneider held various roles during his tenure, including majority caucus vice chairman and assistant majority leader as well as Co-Chairman of the Joint Committee on Finance and the Legislative Council.

While in politics, Mr. Schneider was successful in passing legislation that made it illegal to expel a female student from school for becoming pregnant. During the late 1960s and early 1970s, it was legal to expel a female for becoming pregnant, but not the male who got her pregnant. Finding this very unfair, Mr. Schneider fought for the rights of these young women. Later in his career, Mr. Schneider represented a local citizen whose insurance company would not cover an experimental drug that would save his wife's life. Able to get the drug covered by threatening to expose the company to the media, the drug wound up working and her life was spared. It was by far Mr. Schneider's greatest achievement.

Involved in his local community, Mr. Schneider served as a board member for the Wisconsin Rapids Community Theatre and the Wisconsin Rapids Rotary and an usher at Immanuel Lutheran Church. He is currently active as a member of the Madison Friends of International Students. Mr. Schneider received multiple awards for his achievements, beginning in 1976 by being named Wisconsin Man of Achievement. He has since been honored with an Outstanding Legislature of the Year Award from the Vietnam Veterans of America, the Veterans of World War I, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Award, and Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce Award, among others. He has notably been included in more than 25 editions of Who's Who in American Politics and Who's Who in the Midwest.

Earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse in 1965, Mr. Schneider later received two Master of Science degrees from the University of Wisconsin System, one at Stevens Point in 1976 and one at Madison in 1979. He has also been certified through the Madison Area Technical College Law Enforcement Academy since 1982.

Born in La Crosse, WI, as a child Mr. Schneider would often watch movies with actors such as Roy Rogers, Gene Autry, Audie Murphey and John Wayne—individuals he viewed as heroes. Equally intrigued by current events, which he learned about in high school, he imagined working in a field that would allow him to not only talk about current events but also teach and promote them. Able to live out his dream, not only did Mr. Schneider teach current events to his students, but also he had the opportunity to serve his community as a legislator.

Formerly married to the late Georgia Jean Johansen, Mr. Schneider has since remarried Tetyana Kharkovska. He has three beautiful daughters.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Marlin D. Schneider has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
