Dr. Lenard is an accounting educator with more than 40 years of service to her students and profession. She attended Carnegie Mellon University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in economic and administrative science in 1977, and continued her education at the University of Akron, where she completed a Master of Business Administration in finance in 1982. Dr. Lenard earned a Doctor of Philosophy in business administration at Kent State University in 1995. She is proud to be a certified fraud examiner and a certified management accountant.
From 1977 until 1978, Dr. Lenard initially served as a management trainee for Equibank of Pittsburgh. She later excelled as an accountant and auditor for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company of Akron between 1978 and 1986, a time she recalls as a career highlight due to the opportunities it afforded her to travel both domestically and internationally. Dr. Lenard began her academic career in 1986 as an instructor at the University of Akron, where she remained through 1993. From 1994 to 1997, she continued her career as an adjunct faculty at Cleveland State University, and an associate professor at Barton College from 1997 until 2001.
Dr. Lenard later flourished as an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, from 2001 to 2005. She soon joined the staff of Meredith College in 2005 as an associate professor, rising to become a professor in 2014. She has been a member of several administrative committees at Meredith College, and currently works on the General Education Committee. Among many other accolades, Dr. Lenard has been named Scholar of the Year by Meredith College School of Business in 2008, 2013, and 2017, and is the recipient of the 2014 Laura Harrill Presidential Award.
Dr. Lenard is a frequent contributor to professional publications, including the Journal of Management Information Management Systems, Decision Sciences, and The Journal of Emerging Technologies in Accounting. To maintain her awareness of developments in the field, she remains affiliated with several organizations pertinent to her interests. To wit, Dr. Lenard is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Institute of Management Accountants.
