Mr. Lewis is renowned as a professor and an electrical engineer with more than 60 years of distinction in his field. He initially pursued an education at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1957. He concluded his academic efforts with a Master of Science from the University of Illinois in 1959. Mr. Lewis is a graduate of Appleton Public Schools in Appleton, Wisconsin, and credits his success to his teachers at every level.
Mr. Lewis began his career as an electrical engineer for Interstate Electronics Corporation in Anaheim from 1957 to 1960, working on projects for NASA and the United States Navy. In 1961, he accepted the post of an assistant professor of electrical engineering with Michigan Technical University in Houghton. Excelling to the position of an associate professor in 1970, Mr. Lewis was granted emeritus status from the aforementioned university in 1999.
Among other accolades for his work, Mr. Lewis is the recipient of a Distinguished Teaching Award from Michigan Technical University in 1985 and a Heminway Medal for his scholarship at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. He has found further success as the author of several journal articles and principal author of "Basic Control Systems Engineering" in 1997. An accomplished photographer, Mr. Lewis has self-published a book of wildflower photographs.
