Dr. Moore has found success in teaching mathematics for the Nassau County Schools in Callahan, Florida, since 1999. Previously hired to teach at the Callahan Middle School, she accepted a teaching position at West Nassau High School four years later. Dr. Moore has also held academic appointments at Assumption Catholic School in Jacksonville, Florida, where she taught seventh and eighth grade general mathematics, pre-algebra, approaching algebra and geometry, algebra and a reading class.
Dr. Moore was additionally active as an adjunct instructor at Florida Community College where she taught Data Processing Math (COT1000) in the computer information systems and sciences department, a foundation course for computer science majors. Prior to her tenure in education, she worked as a developer for AT&T Bell Laboratories, now known as Lucent Technologies, for nearly a decade. A leader in her field, she has often hosted math related workshops to students. Dr. Moore has notably spoken on the effectiveness of using manipulatives in the elementary classroom; on training for new Parent Teacher Association (PTA) volunteers, especially officers, and bylaws and financials, among other topics.
Dr. Moore initially earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science/Math at Aurora University in 1991. She subsequently obtained a Master of Science in educational leadership at Nova Southeastern University in 2000 and a Doctor of Philosophy in education at Capella University in 2005. Dr. Moore is certified to teach grades 5-12 mathematics as well as being certified in educational leadership.
A member of the FTCE Mathematics 6-12 Standard Setting Committee, Dr. Moore is also affiliated with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Epsilon Alpha chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa. Furthermore, she has been very active as a lifetime member of the Illinois PTA. Involved with the aforementioned association since her own children were young, she has served as a room parent coordinator, a treasurer, the vice president, the president and the chairperson. Moreover, Dr. Moore has helped develop budgets, run meetings, audit the books and serve as legislative representative at the council level.
Some of Dr. Moore's community involvement over the years has included excelling as a middle school sports team leader, a Ms. Rambler Pageant assistant and a Northeast Florida Fair talent show judge and ticket seller. She has also been associated with the U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps, conducting leadership training while establishing a local unit. Recognized as the Teacher of the Year and honored with a Golden Apple Award, she has also been celebrated among NHR's Outstanding American Teachers. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Moore has been further featured in the 63rd through 70th editions of Who's Who in America, the 27th through 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World and the 28th edition of Who's Who of American Women.
