A large law firm with offices across New York, Florida and Kansas, and offering more than 30 practice and industry groups, he is one of 250 attorneys representing companies, individuals, nonprofit organizations and public sector entities. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Vigdor was a partner and counsel at Boylan, Code, LLP, for 20 years, a full-service law firm, and a partner at Mousaw, Vigdor, Reeves, Heilbronner and Kroll LLP,and its predecessors, also a full service law firm, for 40 years.
Mr. Vigdor has practiced in a variety of areas. For many years, he represented several retail chains, for which he was responsible for shopping center leasing and financing. He also represented several public companies that were headquartered in Rochester and was occupied with public and private securities offerings and related work under the Securities Act and Securities Exchange Act. In more recent years, Mr. Vigdor began focusing much of his practice on general corporate and business matters, nonprofit organizations and alternative dispute resolution.
Throughout his long and distinguished career, Mr. Vigdor has served on the New York Uniform Law Commission and the National Conference of Uniform Law Commissioners and has been a panelist on numerous professional topics. He has served as the chairman of the New York State IOLA Fund, on the board of directors of the Foundation for Jewish Community and as the president of AAA of New York State. He notably spearheaded efforts to create the Al Sigl Community of Agencies housing nine health service providers, the Telesca Center For Justice housing five legal service agencies for the poor and the Key Bank Rochester Fringe Festival, an idea proposed by the University of Rochester President to build upon Rochester's rich cultural history and infrastructure and to revitalize the city.
Mr. Vigdor received a bachelor's degree at the University of Maryland, a Bachelor of Law, with magna cum laude honors, at St. John's University, and a Master of Law at New York University. He subsequently served in the U.S. Army for two years, from January 1952 to August 1954, as a member of the Judge Advocate General Corps, assisting in creating modern military jurisprudence after the 1951 enactment of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. Mr. Vigdor has been admitted to the New York and Florida Bar Associations, the Second Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals, the U.S. Court of Claims, the U.S. Court of Military Appeals, the U.S. Tax Court, the Eastern, Western and Southern Districts of the U.S. District Court of New York and the Supreme Court of the United States and is a certified federal court mediator.
A life fellow of the American Bar Foundation, Mr. Vigdor is also a life fellow and past president of the New York Bar Foundation. Other professional-related organizations include serving as a past president of both the New York State Bar Association and the Monroe County Bar Association, and as a member of the Florida Bar Association, and the Estate Planning Council. Further, Mr. Vigdor is a member of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, where he was a 1964 Distinguished Service Award recipient.
Among his many recognitions, Mr. Vigdor received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New York State Bar Foundation, the Humanitarian Award and both the Rodenbeck Award and the Nathaniel Award for Community Service and Professional Accomplishments from the Monroe County Bar Association and a Philanthropy Award from the Rochester Area Community Foundation. He has been named to Best Lawyers in America.
