Passionate about student interaction and motivated by seeing her students make connections and build life skills, Renay Cook taught at the kindergarten through grade six level.
BEDFORD, OH, November 07, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Renay Cook with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Cook celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Cook is a retired educator with more than 30 years of service to her students and profession. Inspired by her third grade teacher, she decided early that she wanted to pursue a career in education, and attended the University of Akron, from which she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1979. Ms. Cook earned her Master of Education from Ashland University in 2002, and is a licensed teacher in the state of Ohio.
From 1979 until her retirement in 2010, Ms. Cook was a classroom teacher for East Cleveland City Schools. Passionate about student interaction and motivated by seeing her students make connections and build life skills, she taught at the kindergarten through grade six level and turned down the opportunity to move into an administrative role. Ms. Cook recalls her work with one fifth-grade student, Robin Golden, as a career highlight. Highly motivated despite reading significantly below grade level, Robin worked with her one-on-one for most of the school year to catch up.
Ms. Cook is a volunteer at East Mount Zion Baptist Church. In her retirement, she enjoys reading and is a patron of the performing arts. Ms. Cook is a former member of the National Education Association and the Ohio Education Association.
