One of Mr. Sendel's greatest achievements was when he helped produce more than 700,000 woven fabric shelters (using the woven fabric he developed) for 70,000 East Pakistani refugees in 1971.
PINEY FLATS, TN, November 11, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Mr. Barry R. Sendel has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
As a young entrepreneur, Mr. Sendel has founded more than seven companies and is recognized for his tenacity and successful business mindset.
Mr. Sendel founded Open Woodhaven "Montreal", a building supply company, in 1964, which he converted in 1967 to Home Renovation Depot & Building Supply House, Norsofco Group Ltd. in 1968, Kyoto Fibers in 1969, Innovatek, Inc. in 1985, Chef 5 Minute Meals, Inc. (CANADA) in 2001, Chef Minute Meals, Inc. (U.S.) in 2011 and Hand of Hope in 2012 for food donations for the homeless. In 1968, he created the first of its kind credit card protection register called "Protect-O-Card". Mr. Sendel's interest in the food industry was born while he was living in Mexico in the mid-1990s, where he was introduced to a Spanish organization that was in the fish cannery business based in Mazatlán. The company was holding 1-million cans of tuna, which was not certified "Dolphin Friendly" for the U.S. market. With Mr. Sendel's assistance, a solution was implemented, whereby, the complete inventory of tuna was shipped to Canada "in bond" allowing for the inventory to bypass the U.S. and into Canada, due to the regulations at the time. This achievement afforded Mr. Sendel the opportunity to work with and learn from this Spanish organization with regards to understanding the canned shelf-stable foods. To this end, Mr. Sendel began developing his own self-heating shelf-stable meals (using his own patent pending self-heating pad & activating solution) in pouches and tubs in Canada. This concept led to him winning several Canadian Grand Prix Awards for Originality & Innovation in the 2000- 2001 Canadian Grocery Product category.
One of Mr. Sendel's greatest achievements was when he helped produce more than 700,000 woven fabric shelters (using the woven fabric he developed) for 70,000 East Pakistani refugees in 1971 during the Indo-Pakistani War and their monsoon season, along with helping to transport medical supplies and Doctors Without Borders.
Outside of the business world, Mr. Sendel was the producer of the film "Playgirl Killer" in 1967 and worked with Monticana Records , Carnival Records, and Columbia Records from 1962 to 1964 that produced several hit songs.
Mr. Sendel's confidence and business mindset has made him a highly regarded figure in the business world, and he has been recognized for his accomplishments. He was the recipient of the Citizen of the Year Award from the United States Deputy Sheriff's Association in 2019, and as noted above, won several Canadian Grand Prix Awards for Originality & Innovation several times in the new products category. In 2018, Mr. Sendel became an honored member of the Trademark Business Leaders of America. He is also a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce, and Toastmasters International. In addition, he helped develop the Canadian Film Development Corporation.
Looking toward the future, Mr. Sendel intends on growing his company, continue traveling, and being a guest speaker at universities around the world to speak to undergraduate students on the economics of building a business.
