Dr. Trisha Kay Schock's commitment to bettering the lot of others extended beyond the classroom.
MENTOR, OH, November 11, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Dr. Trisha Kay Schock with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Schock celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
With unbridled enthusiasm and a keen love for children, Dr. Schock had embarked on a career in early childhood education in 1988. Quietly inspired by her mother's own experiences teaching kindergarten, she had surprised her family in her college years by unexpectedly switching majors from psychology to education. It was a move that flawlessly aligned with Dr. Schock's desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
For 25 years, Dr. Schock had taught kindergarten at Sterling Morton Elementary School, stimulating young minds and laying a foundation for academic success. During this time, she had accrued the admiration of her colleagues for applying concepts that encouraged a spirit of learning independence in the classroom. Not only did she challenge her students scholastically, but Dr. Schock had modeled that behavior through her own educational pursuits.
Dr. Schock had earned a Bachelor of Arts from Allegheny College in 1988 and a Master of Education from the Dwight Schar College of Education at Ashland University in 1994. Her pinnacle academic goal was reached in 2011, when she had obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in education from Walden University. Stirred by fresh insights and experiences, she had embarked upon new paths for affecting positive change through mentorship. Dr. Schock had accepted her inaugural professorial appointment at Notre Dame College in South Euclid, fulfilling a vision to grow budding teachers into capable educators.
A natural leader, Dr. Schock had been charged with coordinating the childhood education program at Notre Dame soon thereafter. Her professional affiliations had included the Ohio Education Association, the North Eastern Ohio Education Association and the Mentor Teachers Association. Dr. Schock had also served as a state delegate for the National Education Association and as the president of the local chapter of the international education honor society, Kappa Delta Pi. Her achievements were previously highlighted in the 59th edition of Who's Who in America.
Dr. Schock's commitment to bettering the lot of others extended beyond the classroom. A lifelong animal advocate, she had worked tirelessly to rehome dozens of cats and kittens through local pet rescue agencies. Sadly, Dr. Schock passed away on November 25, 2018, but left behind an extraordinary legacy through her many grateful students.
