SPOKANE, WA, November 12, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- David Eugene Johnson, Esq., CSP, has been inducted into Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An accomplished business and legal professional with more than 15 years of experience to his credit, Mr. Johnson has excelled as the owner and the safety director of Icon Corporation, a family-owned commercial roofing company, since 2009 and an attorney operating out of his private law practice since 2004. Upon being admitted to practice law by the Washington State Bar Association, he took a hiatus from his career path and enlisted in the United States Army following the September 11th attacks, serving two tours in Iraq as an infantry sergeant between 2004 and 2009. When he returned home, he opened his own law firm, David E. Johnson, Attorney at Law, in Spokane, WA, where he has since specialized in the areas of construction law, family law, and business law. Previously, he worked as a legal intern for the Spokane County Public Defender's Officer from 2003 to 2004. Outside of his primary appointments, Mr. Johnson has found success as a volunteer family law attorney for the Spokane County Bar Association.

Mr. Johnson prepared for his productive career by attending Washington State University at only 16 years old, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration in 2000. He concluded his studies by obtaining a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Rutgers Law School within Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, in 2003. As a soldier, Mr. Johnson became known as the "Brains of Bravo," referring to Bravo Company, or Company B, the Army unit in which he served for many years.

While stationed in Iraq, Mr. Johnson wrote the unit's reports to higher headquarters, maintained the records, fielded the phone calls, and supervised multimillion-dollar payouts, among several other responsibilities. Meanwhile, the family business was waiting for him in Spokane. Founded by his father, Icon Corporation was recognized as one of "America's Safest Companies" by EHS Today under Mr. Johnson's leadership in 2018.

Mr. Johnson has contributed as a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals, the Associated General Contractors of America, and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Authorized as a trainer by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and 3M Fall Protection, he personally conducts instructional sessions for workers at Icon Corporation, from hazard awareness training to eight-hour asbestos worker training to fall protection competent personal training. Additionally, Mr. Johnson has completed "Management and Leadership Skills for Environmental Health and Safety Professionals," a prestigious course offered by the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, a graduate extension of Harvard University.

In light of his exceptional military accomplishments, Mr. Johnson was bestowed with a Bronze Star in 2008 and a Combat Infantryman's Badge in 2005. In his final year of service, he was the subject of an article titled "The Smartest Guy in Company B" for Stars and Stripes, a print and an online publication that provides independent news and information to the United States military community, including active duty service members, veterans, contractors, and their respective family members. In the aforementioned feature story, his myriad impressive achievements were highlighted, including his initiation of a reconciliation process to persuade Sunni insurgents to stop attacking American soldiers and a series of negotiations with a prominent crime boss in Baghdad, a strategy which brought roadside bomb incidents in the region down 80 percent. Despite his dedicated involvement in the conflict, Mr. Johnson was an opponent of the Iraq War from its start, but believed, as he stated in the article, that "at a time of war, it's important to serve, regardless of your political beliefs."

Upon reflection of his life and career thus far, Mr. Johnson attributes much of his success to his wife and his children. Looking toward the future, he hopes to continue the substantial growth of Icon Corporation and further ensure an injury- and incident-free workplace. Mr. Johnson also looks forward to seeing his children learn and find their own successes.
