A fierce advocate for civil liberties, Mr. DeVoto has leveraged his passion for the law into a rewarding career. The son of a lawyer, United States magistrate and clerk of the federal court, he made it a mission to follow in his father's footsteps. He has been admitted to practice by the Missouri Supreme Court, the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Circuits. In addition to his current primary appointment as an attorney with Thomas C. DeVoto PC, he has also served as an advisory director for National City Bank and was on the executive committee for the Lawyers Association of St. Louis. Mr. DeVoto is proud to have had a number of cases in the Missouri Supreme Court, through which he was able to change the law for the better.
Mr. DeVoto has also extended his expertise to his field as a contributor of chapters in books, articles to professional journals and written materials for public speaking engagements. Additionally, he often serves as a guest lecturer for the Missouri Bar CLE. As a testament to his professional prowess, he holds many accolades, such as an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He was also named among the Best Lawyers in America and One of 100 Top Trial Lawyers. Most notably, Mr. DeVoto received the Lon O. Hocker Memorial Trial Lawyer Award from the Missouri Bar Foundation.
Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. DeVoto earned a Bachelor of Arts from Fairfield University in Connecticut and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Saint Louis University. In order to stay abreast of developments in his field, he maintains affiliation with the American Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys and the American Association for Justice. In his spare time outside of work, Mr. DeVoto enjoys golf, travel, backpacking, and skiing.
