GOLDEN, CO, November 13, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Constance N. Knight, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Knight celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Dr. Knight celebrates more than 55 years in the field of Geology. As a self-employed Independent Geologist, she is currently generating and marketing high-potential energy prospects as investment opportunities. Dr. Knight considers her most significant technical and economically viable accomplishments to be the result of her work as a self-employed geologist.
Dr. Knight has worked for various organizations throughout her career. In 1973 (as Connie Dodge) she joined the American Oil Company (AMOCO) in Denver, Colorado, as one of the only two female geologists among a staff of 80 geologists. From 1978 through 1990, she worked in the field of oil and gas exploration and development, primarily as a self-employed consulting geologist. During this time, she was credited with the discovery of multiple oil and gas wells in Kansas. During the 1990's, Dr. Knight worked as a Senior Principal Environmental Engineer for the Rocky Flats Plant, a former U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) manufacturing complex that produced nuclear weapon components and is located near Denver. There she managed the "Geologic Characterization of the Rocky Flats Plant Site." More recently Dr. Knight has been employed as an oil and gas company exploration manager. As a technical expert, she has consulted for large and small oil and gas companies and governmental agencies, including Sandia National Laboratories.
Born and raised in Nebraska, a state that is flat, yet rich in minerals, Dr. Knight developed a love of rocks at an early age. This passion has served as an inspiration for her throughout her career. Upon her entry into college, she was awarded a full scholarship in music, due to her expertise as a clarinetist, and a full academic scholarship. She began college as a music major, however after a short time, she changed her major to follow her true passion. Dr. Knight received a Bachelor of Arts in geology at Western State College, Colorado in 1970. While attending Western State, she twice appeared in the publication: Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Her undergraduate career was followed by a Master of Science degree from the College of Geosciences at the University of Arizona (U of A) in 1973. While attending the U of A, Dr. Knight was 100% financially independent. She worked as a graduate teaching assistant during the school year. During her first summer of graduate work, in 1971, she was the first woman to conduct field work at the Sanchez mining project in southern Arizona. Dr. Knight completed a Professional Degree in hydrogeology at the Colorado School of Mines in 1993 (while employed at Rocky Flats). In 1999 she was awarded a Doctor of Philosophy in Geology from the Colorado School of Mines.
Throughout her professional journey, Dr. Knight has held leadership and service roles with various professional and industry-related organizations. Dr. Knight has been a member of the American Association of Geologists (AAPG) for over 45 years. She served on the AAPG House of Delegates for 19 years. She is a (three time) past president of the Denver Chapter of the Society of Independent Professional Earth Scientists (SIPES). Dr. Knight is a member of the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists (RMAG), and she served twice on the RMAG Board of directors. She has published many technical papers and presented oral and poster presentations at numerous professional conferences. Dr. Knight was the lead editor for a joint AAPG-RMAG book entitled: Series in Geology #65: Application of Structural Methods to Rocky Mountain Hydrocarbon Exploration and Development released by the AAPG November, 2013. As editor, she managed the solicitation of technical papers, the selection of papers, and the technical editing of the accepted papers.
In the late 1980's Dr. Knight organized a speakers bureau of RMAG members. Within one month of "Earth Day" her group of 25 volunteers presented over 100 scientific presentations to various public-school classrooms in the Denver-metro area. Dr. Knight still volunteers her time as a presenter in elementary and secondary classrooms.
In 1987, as sole owner of Geo-Educational Services, Dr. Knight created a new geologic teaching product and developed a market. She sold her copyright to Ward's Science, an international company. After 32 years, her teaching materials, which include a 44-page teacher's guide and copy masters for 11 activities are still produced and marketed as the "Ward's® Discovering Rocks and Minerals Lab Activity."
Dr. Knight is active in the RMAG and Colorado School of Mines mentor programs. For the past 46 years she has been a member of the Baha'i Faith, an international religion aimed at establishing unity and concord amongst the peoples of the world.
In light of her voluminous contributions to the field of geology, Dr. Knight has been bestowed with numerous accolades and honors. In 2017, she was named one of Denver Business Journal's "Top 40 Women in Energy" and "Who's Who in Energy." Other recognitions to her credit include a "Distinguished Public Service to Earth Science Award" presented by the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists in 2011.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Constance N. Knight, PhD, has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
