GARDEN CITY, NY, November 14, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Maurice "Bugs" Bower has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With an incredible career spanning from serving as a U.S. Army sergeant in the WW II during the invasion to eventually working in the music business as an arranger, a composer, a publisher, and a producer, Dr. Bower has recently written "Nice Stories About Nice People," a book meant to serve as an account of his encounters with the world's most famous recording artists. In addition to the aforementioned roles, he has excelled in the past as a record company president and an educator. Obtaining a Doctor of Music from Five Towns College in 1980, Dr. Bower has composed, arranged, and produced hundreds of recordings with a veritable procession of the most famous names in culture throughout the 20th century.

Dr. Bower initially entered the field of music as a student at the Juilliard School of Music, during which he penned his first successful million dollar selling music books, such as "Bop," "Bop Duets," "Chords and Progressions," and "Rhythms." He made his first recording with Brian Hyland ("Itsy Bitsy, Teeny Weeny, Yellow Polka Dot Bikini") during this time. Likewise, Dr. Bowers' first student was Johnny Mandel, who would become a famous composer responsible for the theme for the television show "M*A*S*H," and the song "The Shadow of Your Smile."

Dr. Bower subsequently collaborated with the prominent musical group Kool and the Gang to produce such famous songs as "Funky Stuff," "Hollywood Swinging," "Jungle Boogie," and "Celebration." Moreover, he worked with Sammy Kaye to produce "The Mission of Saint Augustine," Dorian Dammer on "Aerobic Dancing," and Joanie Greggains on "Aerobic Shape Up." For his invaluable efforts in helping to facilitate the release of these cultural landmarks, he was presented with ten Gold Records, bestowed in recognition of a million albums sold, and Grammy Awards for "The Little Prince" as the Best Children's Recording of the Year and "Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Home Computers" as the Best Spoken Word Recording of the Year.

In "Nice Stories About Nice People," Dr. Bower relates several fascinating and inspiring anecdotes regarding the famous individuals he has encountered while working in the music industry. He recalls driving in a limousine during a rainy night on the streets of New York City alongside Bing Crosby, who requested that the driver pull over to pick up two nuns who were stranded in the heavy downpour. Moreover, Dr. Bower expounds on a phone call he received from actor Joe Pesci about using his song "Caterina" in an upcoming television program.

Adjacent to his career, Dr. Bower has engaged in various civic endeavors, some of which have seen him attain further praise. In addition to receiving a Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary International, he also participated in the opening of Camp Ohrdruf in Germany, for which he received a U.S. Holocaust Memorial Consul Award. An inductee to the Nassau County Veteran's Wall of Honor, Dr. Bower is proud to have volunteered at veteran's hospitals throughout his life. "Bugs" feels that many, many of his successful publications and recordings were subjects of "divine intervention."
