Dr. Endicott is renowned as an international relations expert with more than 60 years of distinction in his field. He initially pursued an education at The Ohio State University, graduating in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts (Cum Laude) before being commissioned as a 2nd Lt. in the United States Air Force. A 28 year-veteran and military leader, he participated in the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 assigned to SAC Headquarters, and served in Vietnam with 50 combat missions three years later. Obtaining a Master of Arts in History from Omaha University, he also completed course requirements at the Air War College, the Air Command Staff College, and the National War College. Dr. Endicott is a graduate of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University, earning a Master of Arts in international relations in 1972, a Master of Arts in law and diplomacy in 1973, and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1973.
From 1969 to 1978, Dr. Endicott continued his Air Force career at the Air Force Academy eventually becoming the deputy head of the Political Science and Philosophy Department. In 1978, he accepted the post of the Director, International Affairs Division of Air Force Plans at the Pentagon prior to working as the deputy air force representative to the military staff committee of the United Nations Security Council from 1979 to 1981. He further flourished as the associate dean of the National War College from 1981 to 1983, and the director of the research directorate at the National Defense University from 1983 to 1986. In 1986, he retired from the Air Force as a Colonel, and was promoted to SES-4 as Director of the Institute for National Strategic Studies of the U.S. Department of Defense from 1986 to 1989.
In 1989, he was recruited by the Georgia Institute of Technology and founded the Center for International Strategy, Technology, and Policy. He was one of the founders of the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs and served as a professor at Georgia Tech from 1989 to 2007. He was awarded "Professor Emeritus" title by vote of the Faculty. In 2007, Dr. Endicott was recruited by the Woosong University of Korea to become university President and Vice Chancellor of the SolBridge International School of Business.
Dr. Endicott provided his expertise in international relations to numerous advisory groups and panels during his career, including the Funabashi Commission on United States-Japan Alliance and Disarmament, the Atlanta Council for International Relations, and as a consultant for the Department of Defense. Since 1996, he has been the Chairman of the Interim Secretariat of the organization advocating the development of a Limited Nuclear Weapons' Free Zone for Northeast Asia. His leadership of this effort led to nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005 and 2009.
He is the author of numerous papers and journal articles, in addition to several respected books on nuclear weapons policy, regional security and East Asian politics. He has earned numerous decorations for his service to the United States Armed Forces. Dr. Endicott remains a member of the International Institute of Strategic Studies of London, is a forty-year member of the Army and Navy Club of Washington, D.C., and is a member of the national honorary society, Phi Beta Kappa. In Korea he is a member of the Association of Private University Presidents and serves on the Advisory Board of TRADOC, Army of Korea. Two distinguished universities have granted him Honorary Doctoral Degrees, the University of Toulouse and Dankook University. Having just completed his memoirs, Destined to Serve, he also continues an active conference and seminar presentation schedule with the military and academic communities, both American and Korean. As President of Woosong, he still teaches one course a semester to undergraduates at SolBridge.
