TAMPA, FL, November 18, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Janae Thomas has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Supported by more than five years of professional experience, Ms. Thomas serves as an Assistant State Attorney for the 13th Judicial Circuit. Prior to obtaining this prestigious role, she gained valuable expertise as a judicial intern for the Florida Second District Court of Appeals under the Honorable Anthony K. Black, where she assisted in researching criminal, civil and family law appeals and reviewed more than a dozen cases regarding issues such as custody, ineffective council and usury issues between a corporate entity and banks which have held mortgage. Previously, in the same role for the Honorable Catherine P. McEwen of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of Florida, Ms. Thomas conducted research on the admissibility of social media evidence, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn postings, in federal and state courts.
In 2011, Ms. Thomas was honored to hold an internship with the Supreme Court of Florida under the Honorable Peggy A. Quince and for the Eighth District Judicial Circuit of Florida under the Honorable Walter M. Green. During these early years, she conducted in-depth analysis and research into various capital punishment issues, including appeals, and consulted on a range of misdemeanor cases such as DUIs and domestic violence matters. Although her career is still on the rise, Ms. Thomas has already effected considerable change, for which she is extremely proud.
An expert in her field, Ms. Thomas earned a Bachelor of Science in finance, real estate, and risk management/insurance from Florida State University in 2010. Next, she attended the University of Florida, where she completed a Master of Business Administration and a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2013. From there, she returned home to Tampa, Florida where she received a Master of Public Administration from the University of South Florida in 2018. In 2021, she expects to complete a Doctor of Philosophy in politics and international affairs from the University of South Florida as well. Ms. Thomas retains her professional alignment with the Hillsborough Association for Women Lawyers, the Hillsborough Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association in order to remain aware of developments in the field.
Devoted to her community, Ms. Thomas contributes through the efforts of the Junior League of Tampa, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay, Brandon Regional Hospital, Metropolitan Ministries and the State Attorney's Office Community Engagement Task-Force. For her considerable work, she was recently honored with multiple Community Service Awards. Looking ahead, Ms. Thomas aspires to reach a position where she is able to continue actualizing change, ideally in collaboration with a government agency and through her published works, which she hopes to release soon.
