Mr. Kilpatric is renowned as a lawyer and a former deputy district attorney with more than 45 years of career distinction. He initially pursued an education at the University of California Berkeley, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts. Drafted into the United States Army shortly thereafter, he served his country honorably in Vietnam, and was subsequently presented with a Bronze Star and a Commendation Medal for his service. Following his honorable discharge, he concluded his academic efforts at the University of California Hastings College of the Law, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1972. Mr. Kilpatric was admitted to practice law by the State Bar of California later that same year.
From 1973 to 1974, Mr. Kilpatric was active as a deputy district attorney for Contra Costa County, CA. Since 1974, he has flourished working of counsel at Montgomery & Andrews of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He has also excelled as the co-author of the "New Mexico Hotel & Motel Laws Book," and the "50 State Handbook of Lobbying PACs and Campaign Finance," compiled by the State Capital Group. Mr. Kilpatric has found further success in energy development lobbying, and is proud to have been the recipient of the Jason A. Kellahin Award for Outstanding Legislative Advocacy from the New Mexico Oil and Gas Association.
Mr. Kilpatric is a contributor to the FORC Quarterly Journal of Insurance Law and Regulation. He maintains a AV-Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell. He has been honored among the Best Lawyers of America in Government Relations Law annually since 2007. A fellow of the New Mexico Bar Foundation, Mr. Kilpatric is a member of the natural resources law section of the American Bar Association.
