John W. Eyster has been cited in the fifth, sixth and eighth editions of Who's Who in American Education.

An accomplished professional in his field, Mr. Eyster spent the first portion of his career teaching at Parker High School in Janesville, Wisconsin. Teaching social studies between 1971 and 2000 and chairing the department between 1986 and 2000, he went on to become a legislative liaison for the School District of Janesville for another eight years. During this time, he began lecturing with the University of Wisconsin System on the Rock County campus in 2003. Remaining in this roll for three years, Mr. Eyster was active as a lecturer with the University of Wisconsin's Waukesha campus between 2006 and 2011.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Eyster served as a consultant for advanced placement government and politics with the Midwestern Regional Office of the College Board in Evanston, Illinois, from 1976 to 2006. He also contributed his expertise in roles with the Washington Seminar, the Civics Education Task Force and the Wisconsin Virtual School, among others. Notably, he is also the co-author of "Roads to Learning" and "Profiles of Promise #7: Integrated Social Studies." A pastor for the Hebron United Methodist Church in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, between 1968 and 1971, Mr. Eyster later became a tentmaker and a pastor for the Emerald Grove Church, United Church of Christ from 1973 to 1995.
First receiving a Bachelor of Arts in international relations at American University in Washington, D.C., in 1962, Mr. Eyster went on to earn a Master of Divinity in theology from the Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. in 1966, a Master of Arts in teaching from the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater in 1971 and a Master of Arts in educational administration from the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1979. He was ordained as a deacon with the United Methodist Church in 1963, and as an elder in 1966. He transferred his clergy credentials to the United Church of Christ in 1984.
Honored with an Outstanding Teacher Award from Beloit College in 1988 and named Outstanding United States History Teacher by the National Society of Daughters of Colonial Wars in 1981, Mr. Eyster was also recognized with an Outstanding Social Studies Program Award by the Wisconsin Council for Social Studies in 1990. Furthermore, his profile was featured on "Salute to the American Teacher" on the Disney Channel in 1993. A Kohl Educational Foundation fellow in 1991, Mr. Eyster has been cited in the fifth, sixth and eighth editions of Who's Who in American Education.
