An expert in the fields of chemistry and engineering, Dr. Chiang excels as the director of Foxconn International Co., an electronics company that specializes in cell phones and their chemical coatings. Previously, he gained valuable experience working as a senior scientist with Sherwin Williams between 1980 and 2007. Likewise, Dr. Chiang has completed two years of service in the Taiwan Marine Corps.
With a plethora of knowledge for his utilization, Dr. Chiang has invented a number of different cell phone coatings, including a ceramic coating and a camouflage coating. He retains professional alignment with the American Chemical Society and the Coating Technology Association, as well as the Chinese Professional and Academic Association of Midwest, USA, for which he was appointed as the chairman. Although his career has been filled with highlights, Dr. Chiang is especially proud of obtaining more than 180 patents in the area of chemical coatings.
Prior to embarking upon his professional path, Dr. Chiang earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Tamkang University in 1971. Subsequently, he obtained a Master of Science in chemistry from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1977. Dr. Chiang concluded his academic efforts with a Doctor of Philosophy in polymer science and engineering from Case Western Reserve University in 1981.
Notably, Dr. Chiang has contributed to several articles in professional journals, such as "Spectroscopic characterization of the matrix-silane coupling agent interface in fiber-reinforced composites," "Magic-Angle Cross-Polarization Carbon 12 NMR Study of Aminosilane Coupling Agents on Silica Surfaces" and "Comparison of primary and secondary aminosilance coupling agents in anhuydride-curde epoxy fiberglass composites." For his outstanding work in the field, he was presented with the Best Research and Development Achievement Award from Sherwin Williams in 1988. Looking toward the future, Dr. Chiang intends to look toward retirement.
