Retiring in 2003 after more than 35 years in the industry, Dr. Kelly was a prominent management consultant based in Chicago whose career included worldwide affiliations with hundreds of individuals and organizations. Over the course of his career, he progressed from associate to principal and to a partner and a director at A. T. Kearney Management Consultants between 1957 and 1979. He subsequently further progressed and served as managing partner of organization and personnel and then internally as senior general and international consultant at the Arthur Andersen World Headquarters between 1979 to 1990. After retirement from Arthur Andersen, Dr. Kelly further found success with Watson Wyatt Company as a senior international consultant, where he remained for the duration of his career.
In retirement, Dr. Kelly remained professionally active on a freelance basis. In the past, he additionally provided his expertise to and was a member of the board of directors for Allied Farm Equipment and Duff Truck Line in Canada and the United States. He served on the governance committee of the Hideaway Beach Association for six years. He also served as founding trustee and chairman on the board of directors for the Historic Preservation Commission for the Village of Hinsdale, Illinois. In addition, he served as trustee of the Village of Hinsdale, Illinois. Dr. Kelly had flourished as the chair of the board of trustees and the Board of deacons of the Clarendon Hills Presbyterian Church in earlier years.
Equally involved with educational programs and activities, Dr. Kelly especially contributed to minority communities and those with special needs. He notably held the posts of the president of the Hinsdale School District Board of Education from 1975 to 1983 and as the trustee and the chairman of the board of the College of DuPage between 1985 and 1991. Moreover, Dr. Kelly completed service as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force between 1951 and 1953.
Dr. Kelly is a distinguished graduate of Iowa State University, from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering in 1951. After his Airforce service, he concluded his further studies at Purdue University, obtaining a master's degree in Industrial Engineering in 1955 and a Doctor of Philosophy in 1957 in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He served as a full-time faculty member of the Industrial and General Engineering departments of Purdue University during this period. Furthermore, Dr. Kelly is a certified management consultant and a licensed psychologist in Illinois.
To remain aware of current trends in the industry, Dr. Kelly maintained his involvement with the American Institute of Management Consultants, the American Compensation Association and the American Psychological Association. He has also been a member of the University Club of Chicago, the Economic Club of Chicago and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Kelly has been featured in approximately 35 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Business and Who's Who in the World.
