After earning a Bachelor of Arts in economics from Bucknell University in 1968, Dr. Klingler proceeded to obtain a Doctor of Philosophy from Temple University in 1985. Professionally, he has worked as a valued and notable assistant professor at the Villanova University School of Business (VSB) since 1979. Prior to his career in teaching, Dr. Klingler served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve from 1969 to 1975.

What's more, he names the founding of the academic program in Entrepreneurship in VSB and co-founding the Entrepreneurship Program in the Villanova College of Engineering as another great personal achievement. Additionally, the university offered an undergraduate program in Urbino, Italy, which allowed Mr. Klingler and his wife to spend time abroad further developing he program's course offerings, an experience he described as transformative.
While at Bucknell, Mr. Klingler became involved in his profession because of his undergraduate teacher and inspiring mentor, Dr. William Cooper. Dr. Cooper gave fascinating assignments, which intrigued the younger man and spurred him to pursue economics as a focus for his profession, and eventually chose to pursue a Ph.D. What's more, with Dr. Cooper's recommendation, Dr. Klingler was able to enter the U.S. Navy Officer Candidate School.
For his dedication to the university and excellence in teaching, Dr. Klingler was the recipient of the Meyer Innovation and Creative Excellence Award from the Villanova Business School in 2010. He also served on the board of directors of nonprofits started by his students and is currently on the Board of Directors of the Philadelphia Folksong Society. Outside of his profession, he is an avid skier and musician in the Philadelphia Jug Band. A dedicated Presbyterian, Dr. Klingler married his wife, Margaret Penny McGowan Klingler in 1970, and together they are the proud parents of two children (Elizabeth and James) through whom they have four grandchildren.
