MONTGOMERY VILLAGE, MD, December 06, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Camille Bohannon with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Bohannon celebrates more than four decades in broadcast news, both at the local level and nationwide, having been heard on five of the major national news networks. She is recognized for career achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Ms. Bohannon pursued an education at New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1968. She began her broadcasting career there as a news anchor and assistant program director for Channel-Two Cable TV, from 1966 to 1968. Moving to Washington, DC in 1969, she worked for three years at pop music stations WHFS and WWDC and classical station WETA before transitioning back to news.

In Washington, she served as morning news anchor for WTOP Radio from 1975 to 1977 and WRC Radio from 1977 to 1980. Ms. Bohannon also excelled as a news anchor for WCFL Radio of Chicago from 1980 to 1983.

A series of further career moves found her anchoring for the United Press International Radio Network in New York City from 1983 to 1984, and subsequently for the MUTUAL and NBC Radio Networks in Washington. She ended her broadcasting career as a reporter and anchor for The Associated Press Radio Network, retiring in 2008.

A member of the Gaithersburg Maryland Chorus and the choir of the Covenant United Methodist Church there, she also continues to keep ties to her chosen field. She is an active member of the National Press Club and works with the Society of Professional Journalists and the National Capital Radio and TV Museum.

Among other accolades, Ms. Bohannon is the recipient of the 2002 Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television News Directors Association and the 2011 Peter Hackes Memorial Award for ''distinguished contributions to the broadcasting industry'' from what is now called the Radio Television Digital News Association.
