Mr. Darst is renowned as a minister, corporate accountant, and financial educator with more than 45 years of distinction in his field. Raised in an Apostolic church, he felt a call to ministry in high school, and earned a Bachelor of Theology degree from the Apostolic Bible Institute in Saint Paul, MN, in 1969. In 1973, he was ordained as a minister of the United Pentecostal Church International which is currently headquartered in Weldon Spring, Missouri. Mr. Darst was active as an evangelist and a bivocational pastor from 1969 to 2012 when he retired.
Mr. Darst subsequently graduated from Franklin University in 1975 with a Bachelor of Science in accounting, intending to use a career in finance as a way to support his family while he continued ministry. He continued his studies at Bowling Green State University, obtaining a Master of Education in 1990 and a Master of Business Administration in 1991.
From 1978 to 1984, Mr. Darst worked as a cost accountant for Mansfield Products in Mansfield, OH, and also served as the pastor of the United Pentecostal Church of West Salem, Ohio. He flourished as the controller and cost-control manager for Snappy Air Distribution Products, Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, from 1984 to 1987, and as the pastor of the First United Pentecostal Church in West Fargo, North Dakota from 1987 to 1989. From 1989 to 1992, he pastored Calvary Christian Church in Gibsonburg, Ohio.
He found further success in higher education in 1992 as an accounting instructor at Zane State College and Central Ohio Technical College from 1994 to 2012. Mr. Darst served as an adjunct lecturer at Ohio State University from 2000 to 2008.
Mr. Darst later excelled as the pastor of Kirkersville Apostolic Church from 2002 to 2012, as well as an instructor at the Purpose Institute's Anchor Church Campus in 2015 and New Life Christian Center campus from 2016 to 2017, and 2019. He has written numerous scripts that the pastor of the New Life Christian Church, Lancaster, Ohio, utilized on the church's Upward Thoughts radio program.
Likewise, he has received several commendations and recognitions for theological leadership and academic leadership. A certified fraud examiner, he has been called upon to testify as a special witness in a high-profile Ohio divorce case, an appearance he recalls as a career highlight. Furthermore, Mr. Darst has been a member of the audit committee for the Ohio District United Pentecostal Church since 1991 and has been the chairman of the committee since 2011.
