Mr. Tembrock provided many years of long-term care and hospice care education as a clinical nurse specialist with the St. Cloud Veteran's Affairs (VA) Health Care System in St. Cloud. During his career, he was very active professionally on the institution review board for the Minnesota VA and the research committee for the St. Cloud VA. Mr. Tembrock was likewise responsible for evaluating an extensive amount of research, one of which included a project that initiated change in policy at the VA.
Mr. Tembrock originally studied in the monastery with aspirations of becoming a priest. He also attended St. John's University MN, and later edited the Kappa Phi newsletter based at the College of St. Benedict MN. Acquiring a Master of Arts in theology, he proceeded to spend an additional year working in local parishes but quickly realized that he needed to reconsider his career, one that would be more practical and would enable him to directly serve others. At the beginning of his nursing career at Mayo, Rochester's neonatal intensive care unit, he took care of babies weighing about a pound. After attending a presentation on men in nursing at an international convention for the Sigma Theta Tau organization, Mr. Tembrock became more intrigued by the field, after which he aspired to utilize more his Masters of Arts in Nursing he had achieved at the College of St. Scholastica MN.
During his career, Mr. Tembrock served in numerous prestigious positions on a local level, including as the vice president of the Minnesota Student Nursing Association and as the editor of its newsletter. As a testament to his success, the Veterans Affairs' Medical Center honored Mr. Tembrock with a Performance Award. Mr. Tembrock is happily married to his wife, Sheila Hughes.
