She recently retired from The Ohio State University and while employed there was active as a Spanish and Portuguese teacher, advisor, and counselor. Prior to Ohio State she excelled as a copywriter for a local advertising agency.
Prior to becoming an esteemed educator, Ms. Manley pursued higher education with a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the Ohio State University in 1970 and a Master of Education from Xavier University in 1986. Apart from her career, she volunteers in her field and community. Ms. Manley was active as a commissioner of the Greater Hilltop Area Commission from 1989 to 2015, a member of the board of directors of the Greater Hilltop Community Development Corporation from 1989 to 2006 and a board member of the Hilltop Community Theatre from 1997 to 2010. Recently, Ms. Manley was active as a member of the Citizens' Advisory Council at the Columbus Development Center from 2005 to 2010. Outside of her primary career responsibilities, Ms. Manley remains informed of the changes and advancements in her industry through her affiliation with the American Counseling Association. In her free time, she enjoys writing, photography, music, and theater.
A proud moment of Ms. Manley's career was participating in study abroad courses in a number of South American countries and Spain. She is also proud of her involvement in her local community theatre. In light of her many achievements in the field, Ms. Manley has received a number of accolades throughout her career. She was named Volunteer of the Year by Nationwide Children's Hospital in 2016. Likewise, she received the Virginia Denman Volunteer Award in 2004 and the President's Volunteer Service Award since 2013, both also as a volunteer at Nationwide Children's Hospital.
