The highlight of Michele Gephart's career is working with students who have faced adversity outside the classroom.
EDEN, NY, December 20, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Michele Gephart with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mrs. Gephart celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mrs. Gephart is renowned as an elementary educator with more than 30 years of dedication to her students and profession. She discovered her interest in education without realizing it, teaching Sunday school and chaperoning her younger brother's school trips. After considering careers in nursing and veterinary medicine, Mrs. Gephart realized her calling to teach.
Initially, Mrs. Gephart pursued an education degree at Villa Maria College, where she earned an Associate of Science in 1989. She continued her academic efforts with a Bachelor of Science in Education from Daemen College in 1992. Mrs. Gephart concluded her studies at Canisius College in 1995, graduating with a Master's Degree in Reading Education.
Mrs. Gephart began her career as an educator at Queen of Martyrs School in Cheektowaga, NY, during the 1992 academic year. She further taught at Our Lady of Czestochowa School in Cheektowaga from 1992 to 1998, and at Saint Bernard's in Buffalo, NY, from 1999 to 2001. From 2001 to 2002, she worked as a teacher at Saint Benedict's in Amherst, NY. In 2002, Ms. Gephart made the move to the public school system as a reading teacher for Buffalo Public Schools, where she continues to teach.
The highlight of Mrs. Gephart's career is working with students who have faced adversity outside the classroom. She is inspired by the resiliency her students display in overcoming obstacles to their learning, and prides herself on building student and family relationships. Mrs. Gephart has further excelled as a committee chairman for Troop 659 of the Boy Scouts of America for more than 20 years, and has been recognized as the Scoutmaster of the Year for her work with the group.
Mrs. Gephart was greatly influenced by her third grade teacher, Donna Czwojdak, who was not only a great teacher in the classroom, she was fun outside as well; she actively played with her students on the playground and on field trips. Mrs. Gephart aspired to be just like her. Years later, she took college courses with Ms. Czwojdak because they were both in pursuit of their master's degrees. Another mentor of Mrs. Gephart's was Patricia Boyd, a seventh & eighth grade ELA teacher, whose children Mrs. Gephart knew well. In church she was a religious coordinator, which is where Mrs. Gephart had the chance to see the fun side of her during confirmation classes. Later in life, Mrs. Boyd became a principal and Mrs. Gephart worked for her at St. Benedict's school in 2002. "She was a wonderful leader, who built you up, praised you for your strengths and supported you through your weaknesses."
