An artist during the early years of her career, Ms. Stangle now serves as a shareholder and a partner with Leydig, Voit & Mayer, Ltd. Since 1999, she has channeled her expertise in the arts into her work in representing clients in IP asset management and licensing, IP litigation, trade secrets and unfair competition cases, and trademark and copyright law. Additionally, she flourishes as the chair of the firm's diversity committee and the vice chair of the recruiting committee. Backed by two decades of legal experience, Ms. Stangle has participated in inter partes proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, represented clients in federal courts all over the country and obtained judgments for more than 50 ICANN proceedings related to domain name dispute matters.
On her journey to become a lawyer, Ms. Stangle obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Michigan in 1992 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from DePaul University College of Law in 1997. Over the years, she also pursued coursework through American University in Rome, Italy, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Upon graduating from law school, Ms. Stangle was admitted to practice in Illinois.
In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Ms. Stangle is affiliated with the Domain Names and Social Media Committee, IPO. She maintains her involvement with the International Trademark Association, the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago and the Intellectual Property Owners Association. Devoted to her community, Ms. Stangle contributes to those in need with the LeGrange Soup Kitchen, her local food drive, and the local junior high science fair.
With considerable experiences and knowledge at her disposal, Ms. Stangle has been active as a panelist for "Smashing the Glass Ceiling and Helping Others Up the Ladder" for the International Women's Leadership Forum and "Beer, Wine, Spirits and the Law" for the Chicago Bar Association's intellectual property committee. She also participated in speaking engagements as well, including "Introduction to Copyright Law," "Obtaining and Maintaining Intellectual Property Rights" and "Tweets and Friends and Pins, Oh My!: Intellectual Property Meets Social Media" through the CLE program. Looking toward the future, Ms. Stangle intends to continue mentor other professional on diversity inclusion issues, while growing as a lawyer in her own right.
In light of her outstanding work, Ms. Stangle has been recognized as a Top Illinois Trademark Lawyer by World Trademark Review 1000 since 2014. She was additionally honored as the Best Trade Dress Specialist in Illinois in 2015, the Best Trademark Attorney in Illinois in 2017 and the Trademark Trial Attorney of the Year in Illinois in 2017. Additionally, Ms. Stangle was exalted among the IP Stars' Top 250 Women in IP for Managing Intellectual Property.
