Richard Holmes Celebrated for Dedication to the Field of Engineering

Mr. Holmes excels as chief scientist with Boeing LTS and founder of Nutronics, Inc.



Richard Holmes received the Presidential Medal of Merit

    CAMERON PARK, CA, December 24, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Richard Holmes has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A noted engineer with many years of experience behind him, Mr. Holmes serves as the chief scientist with Boeing LTS, where he began in 2010. Previously, Mr. Holmes worked in varying executive and scientific positions with Nutronics, Inc., Lockheed Martin Research Laboratories, Rocketdyne division of Rockwell International and North East Research Associates, where he also parlayed his knowledge to others as a consultant in 1990.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Holmes excelled as a senior scientist for AVCO Everett Research Laboratory, a staff scientist with Western Research and the senior system analyst for Comptek Research during the 1980s. Although his career has been filled with highlights, he is especially proud of obtaining patents for mean for photonic communication, a developer of synthetic aperture imaging systems, photonic computation, and distortion compensation. Mr. Holmes also successfully predicted spin-two phonons to explain Raman scattering. Additionally, he was honored to publish "A Quantum Field Theory with Permutational Symmetry."

In the early-1980s, Mr. Holmes earned a Bachelor of Science from the California Institute of Technology and a Master of Science from Stanford University. He retains his professional alignment with the Directed Energy Professional Society, SPIE, the American Physical Society and the Optical Society of America. A devoted community advocate, he has also given back through the North California Scholarship Foundation and the Wilderness Society. Mr. Holmes has contributed to "Matched Asymptotic Expansions," as well as numerous articles in Physical Review Letters, the Journal of the Optical Society of America and the IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, and the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.

Mr. Holmes was honored as a Stanford fellow in 1982 and a Parsons fellow through the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990. Subsequently, he received the Presidential Medal of Merit in 1992, and fellowships through the Directed Energy Professional Society and the Optical Society in 2011 and 2017 respectively. Looking forward, Mr. Holmes intends to pursue a professorial role with a respected university.
