Ms. Keck is a retired software executive with more than 40 years of innovation in her field. A gifted mathematician, she found that abstraction and problem-solving came naturally to her, and became interested in statistical modeling early in her career. Ms. Keck attended Pacific Lutheran University, graduating in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and philosophy.
In 1963, Ms. Keck joined General Electric's Nuclear Energy Division as an assistant engineer, rising to the position of a programmer in 1964, and a numerical analyst from 1966 until 1968. During her time at General Electric, she met a professor of nuclear engineering from Michigan State University who expressed an interest in modeling the behavior of nuclear accidents. She developed and programmed a model applying calculations for 3D flux solutions to predict the behavior of a reactor in meltdown. The two presented their findings in a paper to the American Nuclear Society, where Ms. Keck was one of only two female scientists in attendance, an accomplishment she recalls as a career highlight.
Ms. Keck departed from General Electric in 1968 to begin her own software company, ACD Software, formerly Uhalu Dancers. She remained active in the role of a principal and chief programmer for ACD Software until her retirement in 2003. She is an active member of the congregation at Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church of San Jose, where she has held a variety of leadership and administrative roles. In her retirement, Ms. Keck enjoys cooking and reading, and is an avid philatelist.
