A former senior vice president of Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. for three years and the senior vice president of investments in the futures division at Prudential Securities for 22 years, he also held several other high-level positions and was partner at two different firms. Mr. Gero and his team boast over 125 years of combined experience with over $1 billion in assets under management. Together, they provide cash management and income services to the professional investor and help high net worth families implement customized asset allocation strategies and comprehensive wealth management plans, with a focus on accumulation, protection and transferring of wealth. Over the years, Mr. Gero has served on various committees and boards. As a member of New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) since 1966, he served on its board of directors for 30 years. He was also the director of research and director of international divisions of several New York Stock Exchange firms and is a former arbitrator for the National Association of Securities Dealers and arbitrator for FINRA. He remains a member of the New York (COMEX), Philadelphia (PHLX) and American Stock Exchange. During his career, Mr. Gero was notably instrumental in guiding the Clearing House Committee in revising the Clearing House Rules, which resulted in the board of directors adopting a special resolution of commendation.
In 1985, Mr. Gero authored a book titled "Precious Metals: A Guide to Trading and Investing." He also taught a commodity trading course at The New School in New York City. Lending his expertise to the community, Mr. Gero contributed for over 20 years as the director of Future Options for Kids between 1995 and 2016 and over 35 years as the director and treasurer of the Children's Fund Commodities Exchange Center in New York City between 1980 and 2016. He also chaired the NYMEX Charitable Trust from 1990 to 1995.
Born in London to Hungarian parents, Mr. Gero and his family successfully made their way to the U.S. in 1947 after surviving in Hungary the German and Soviet invasions during the Second World War. Greatly inspired by his father, who was a banker, Mr. Gero decided to study finance in college. A graduate of New York University, Mr. Gero acquired a Bachelor of Science in the school of commerce in 1959. He later received an investment banking certificate from the Investment Bankers Association at the Wharton School in 1965. Mr. Gero is fluent in five languages.

Prior to RBC Dain Rauscher, Mr. Gero was a Senior Vice President of Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. Before Legg Mason, Mr. Gero was a Senior Vice President of Investments, First Vice President of the Futures division and a President Council Member of Prudential Securities. Mr. Gero was a First Vice President of Prudential Securities Incorporated, for 22 years.
Mr. Gero has been a member of the NYMEX since 1966, where he has served on the Board of Directors for 30 years, and serves on Comex Governors Committee. He guided the Clearing House Committee in revising the Clearing House Rules for which the Board of Directors adopted a special resolution of commendation. He now serves on the NFA Hearing Board. The Futures Industry Association inducted him in the Hall of Fame 2019. Previously, he served as a member of the Joint Task Force, Steering Committee, Swap and OTC Derivative Product Committees of the Security Industry Association and the FCM Committee of the FIA. Mr. Gero was a Director of Research and Director of International Divisions of several New York Stock Exchange firms.
Mr. Gero graduated from the New York University School of Commerce. He received his Investment Banking Certificate from the Investment Bankers Association at the Wharton School in 1965, and is an Associate of the Institute of Financial Accounting of Great Britain. Formerly he taught a commodity trading course at the New School. He is fluent in five languages and his former currency review was published in three of them.
Aligned with several industry-related organizations, Mr. Gero was a member of the New York Produce Exchange (now NYMEX) and the Investment Brokers Association. He is also on the hearing board of the National Futures Association and was chairman of the Commodity Floor Brokers and Traders Association. Other professional memberships to his credit include the International Precious Metals Institute as the past president and current director, the New York Police Reserve Association, the Retired Westchester County Police Revolver League, the New York State Troopers Alumni Association and the American Radio Relay League.
