In the 1990s, he held a number of executive roles in varying fields, including as the engineering and operations manager for Diesel Recon Charleston from 1990 to 1993, the company manager of Recon Gas Engines (Cummins Engine Company) from 1994 until 1997, a factory manager for Yale Security in 1997, and a business manager for Frigidaire Home Products from 1998 until 1999. Dr. Clontz's professional career began with Charleston Naval Shipyard as a senior engineer and with Baker Material Handling as a plant superintendent.
A member of the Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mr. Clontz earned a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1984. He is a lifetime member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. He retains professional affiliations with the Publishers Marketing Association, the Small Publishers Association of North America, and the Christian Small Publishers Association. Furthermore, Mr. Clontz found success as the president of the Southeastern Regional Poetry Society from 1996 to 1997.
In addition to his work in education, publishing and engineering, Dr. Clontz has authored several books such as "The Comprehensive New Testament" and "Philo for Christians" in 2008, "The Gospels in Perfect Harmony" and "The Gospel of Matthew: A Poetic Analysis" in 2013, "Women at the Cross" and "Jesus! The Novel" in 2017, and "Finding Jesus in the Old Testament: Proving that God Exists," which was published in 2018. He is the co-editor of the "Comprehensive Bible Cross References Module" for Accordance Bible Software. He has been celebrated many times for his outstanding work, accepting citations from the Secretary of the Navy and the Chief Engineer of the Navy. Accepting a U.S. Navy Procurement Award, Dr. Clontz was nominated for the Department of Defense Engineer of the Year for his contributions to procurement and anticounterfeiting efforts for the Department of Defense and the Department of Justice.
