Prior to forming Lane Services, Dr. Lane led a successful career in nonprofit work for more than four decades. He notably spent six years as a senior manager of Grant Thornton LLP's nonprofit software consulting group in New York City and Washington, D.C., and accumulated 22 years of expertise with the Boy Scouts of America. First hired by the Boy Scouts in 1974 as a district executive in Valley Forge, he was later promoted to various other positions before resigning from the organization in 1997 as chief information officer in New York City.
The founder of the COMMON Education Foundation, Dr. Lane, who served as treasurer for many years, also served as the executive director from 1999 to 2002 and a member of the board of directors from 1998 to 2018. He was a board of directors' member of the Mid-Atlantic Society of Association Executives between 2010 and 2012. He served as Executive Vice-President of COMMON-A Users Group in the late 1990s.
An alumnus of LaSalle University in Philadelphia, Dr. Lane received a Bachelor of Science in 1974 and a Master of Business Administration in 1979. He later acquired a Doctor of Philosophy at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 1996. He is a certified iMIS professional.
A member of several professional organizations, Dr. Lane has notably been affiliated with the American Society of Association Executives, NiUG International, the New York Society of Association Executives, the Mid-Atlantic Society of Association Executives and the Association of Fundraising Professionals. He is also a member of the National Catholic Committee on Scouting.
Honored with a Legion of Honor from the Chapel of Four Chaplains in Philadelphia in 1975, Dr. Lane later received the John Howarth Memorial Award from NiUG International in 2017.
Additionally, he received the Vigil Honor from the Order of the Arrow of the Boy Scouts America in 1973 and is a recognized Eagle Scout with a Bronze Palm. A celebrated Marquis listee, Dr. Lane has been included in the 21st and 27th editions of Who's Who in the East.
