HONOLULU, HI, January 09, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Barbara N. Fukushima with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Fukushima celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Ms. Fukushima has crafted an exemplary resume over her career in the field of finance, particularly during her tenure as a financial advisor with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated since 1986. She has also worked as a vice president with Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith Incorporated. She graduated with a bachelor's degree, with high honor, from the University of Hawaii in 1970 before completing postgraduate coursework at Oregon State University and the University of Oregon. Transitioning from a financial advisor to a portfolio manager, Ms. Fukushima learned how to trade money with discretion, studying under mentors such as Bennett McDowell, Steve Nison, John Bollinger, Stephen Bigalow, Evan Lazarus and Vince Vora.
Ms. Fukushima began her career as an intern at Coopers & Lybrand in Honolulu in 1974. She subsequently worked as an auditor with Haskins & Sells until 1977. She was the president of Book Doors, Inc., for the next two decades. During that period, Ms. Fukushima served as an internal auditor and accountant with Maui Land & Pineapple Company from 1977 to 1980, as well as the president of her own accounting firm, Barbara N. Fukushima CPA, Inc., from 1979 until 1986.
Ms. Fukushima's inspiration to become involved in her profession was derived from seeing her clients' tax returns and the impact it had on them losing so much money. Eventually, the long hours and changing tax laws caused her to seek a career shift, and she explored the world of financial services. She appreciated the different lifestyle and happiness that many in the industry seemed to enjoy and drew immense satisfaction out of helping her clients grow their assets in a away they never believed possible. However, she has been driven throughout her career by her passion for helping others, and she sees her financial career as a vehicle for doing just that. Now that she knows exactly where she wants to take her career, Ms. Fukushima is committed to dedicating the rest of her life to helping others.
