John Henry Strathman has been included in the fourth edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering for his accomplishments.

Now a retired engineer, Mr. Strathman contributed for the length of his entire career to Hewlett Packard, beginning in 1957 as a research and development engineer at Palo Alto, California. Subsequently he relocated to the newly formed Colorado Springs Division in 1964 as a research and development section manager. He remained located in Colorado Springs for the remainder of his career. In 1972 Mr. Strathman formed and managed the Colorado Springs Technology Center, an operation within the Colorado Springs Division. Mr. Strathman continued as the general manager of this organization for twenty years during which time it became part of the Integrated Circuit Division of Hewlett Packard. Mr. Strathman concluded his career as the quality manager of the Colorado Springs Division in 1997.
Recognized for his accomplishments, Mr. Strathman is most proud of the time he spent forming and operating the technology center at Hewlett Packard. Consisting of approximately 250 engineers, technicians and operators, they were dedicated to the design and manufacturing of microelectronic circuits utilized in instruments manufactured in Colorado Springs as well as instruments manufactured in other divisions throughout Hewlett Packard. Mr. Strathman has authored a number of technical articles published in various engineering and technical journals. He has also lectured in his areas of expertise numerous times.
A community leader for many years, Mr. Strathman first served as a member and chairman of the El Paso County Planning Commission between 1969 and 1974. He has since served on the board of directors and as the first president of the HP Colorado Federal Credit Union in Colorado Springs, as a member of the engineering dean's advisory board at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, as well as on the board of trustees of Colorado Springs Citizen's Goals and the board of directors for the Emily Griffith Centers for Children. Notably, Mr. Strathman served in the U.S. Navy as a line officer to the rank of lieutenant junior grade between 1955 and 1957.
Mr. Strathman originally became interested in electronics at an early age, initially inspired by the training manuals used by his father who was a first World War radio operator in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Strathman built and experimented with numerous radio and electronic projects during this time, and by the time he completed primary school he had already become an active amateur radio operator. Mr. Strathman notably acquired a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois in 1955, followed by a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering at Stanford University in 1959.
To remain aware of developments in his field, Mr. Strathman has been active as a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the International Society for Hybrid Microelectronics and the American Society of Quality Control. He is also a member of the honorable societies of Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Tau and Pi Mu Epsilon. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Strathman has been included in the fourth edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering for his accomplishments.
