PALM DESERT, CA, January 14, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Linda K. Bratrud with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Braturd celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Now retired after more than two decades of professional experience, Ms. Bratrud found success as the owner of Smith, Settle, Bingham and Wagner Booksellers, a bookstore in Tacoma, WA, from 1980 to 1990. During this time, she was also designated as a client executive assistant at Frank Russell Company, an investment services firm in Tacoma, from 1981 to 1984. An instructor of French at Tacoma Community College from 1970 to 1971, she previously taught French at Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor, WA, from 1984 to 1993. Ms. Bratrud began her career at South High School in Bakersfield, CA, where she was active as a French teacher from 1967 to 1968.
Before embarking on her professional path, Ms. Bratrud pursued an education in France, graduating with a diploma from the Université Grenoble Alpes in 1964 and the University of Paris in 1965, respectively. She continued her education at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1966. Ms. Bratrud later concluded her studies at the University of Puget Sound, obtaining a Master of Business Administration in 1987.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on May 14, 1944, Ms. Bratrud was motivated to enter her profession by her high school French teacher, Madame Leggate, because she made it very fun to learn the language. She also credits her parents for supporting her ambitions to travel abroad to further her education. She became involved with Smith, Settle, Brigham and Wagner Book Sellers because her friend, Patti Smith, wanted to open a bookstore after she experienced financial troubles. Looking for something to keep her occupied while her children were in school, Ms. Bratrud, an avid reader, was enthusiastic to help her friend with the venture.
Ms. Bratrud's late husband, Jeffery C. Bratrud, also inspired her with his encouragement and guidance. Married to him for nearly ten wonderful years, she believes his best advice to her was not to give unsolicited feedback and that everyone has something to contribute. She also draws motivation from her mother, Marian Lucy Peterson, who after losing her husband at the age of 65, decided that she wanted to earn money, so she obtained a real estate license. Active in her community, Ms. Bratrud's mother was fondly regarded as the "unofficial mayor" of Port Ludlow, WA, for two decades.
Ms. Bratrud considers her proudest achievement to be her two daughters, Courtney and Dana. Dana received a business degree from Harvard University and she works as a partner in a venture capital fund. Prompted by her experiences travelling to France with her mother, Courtney, who also holds a business degree, followed a career in the wine industry. In light of Ms. Bratrud's exceptional undertakings, she was previously highlighted in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who of American Women.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Ms. Bratrud was a member of the Canterwood Country Club in Gig Harbor and the Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert. In her free time, she participates in such activities as gardening, golf, tennis and cooking. Passionate about writing, she also enjoys penning poetry for her friends and family. Notably, Ms. Bratrud is a grandmother of four wonderful grandchildren: Parker, Delaney, Max and Alex.
