Hired in 1975 and later retiring in 2001, he made a lasting impression on students and faculty alike for his passion for his subjects. Throughout his career, he was responsible for numerous inventions, including the mathematical theory of parallelism, divergence and convergence and the invention of nuclear vibration. Dr. Brekke also conducted extensive research in oscillating nuclear cross sections and the impact parameters making them variables, electron orbits as an oscillating mechanical cloud, the development of the approximate best fit modeling teaching strategy, the development of the modification of the Einstein photoelectric effect equation and much more.
As a result of his work, Dr. Brekke has written extensively in his field. A regular author of articles for professional journals, his work has appeared in such publications as Physics Today and Spectrum. Additionally, he has contributed multiple scientific and mathematical papers to various American Physical Society and other organizational meetings, and has published abstracts in the NASA Astronomy Data System. A longstanding member of the Illinois State Academy of Science, Dr. Brekke is also affiliated with the American Physical Society, the Purdue Alumni Association, the Nature Conservancy and the Sierra Club.
Receiving a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois in 1965, Dr. Brekke went on to earn a Master of Arts from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1971 and a Master of Science in education from Purdue University in Indiana in 1987. A certified teacher in the state of Illinois since 1968, he more recently obtained a Doctor of Philosophy from the International University for Graduate Studies in Dominica in 2012. In light of all his accomplishments, Dr. Brekke has previously been cited in approximately 30 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World.
Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Brekke still resides locally in Downers Grove, which is a southwestern suburb of Chicago. In his free time, he enjoys spending his free time playing tennis and chess. Dr. Brekke also still very much enjoys conducting research and presenting scientific papers.
