Today he maintains his own company, Roger G. Aiken & Associates, in Falcon Heights as the principal, which has been in business since 1988. Mr. Aiken also excelled as the executive director and lead instructor for the Center for Renewable Energy Education and Demonstration (CREED) Project from 1996 to 2013.
Mr. Aiken has worked for such prestigious organizations as Honeywell, Inc., Synergistic Design and Engineering, the Minnesota Energy Agency, and the Canadian Federal Department of Communications in Ottawa. Between 1999 and 2013, he notably served as an energy educator for the CREED Project in cooperation with Hamline University's Science Education Department. Throughout his career in academia, Mr. Aiken has taught physics at Augsburg College, and HVAC at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis, as well as various energy issues classes at North Hennepin Community College in Brooklyn Park, Century College in White Bear Lake and Saint Paul College in Saint Paul, MN
A gifted writer, Mr. Aiken has authored numerous articles and books, including his most recent publication, "God, Creation, Discovery, Awe," in 2019. In this text he shares his broad scientific knowledge, combined with his personal experiences with general revelation and knowledge of God gained through natural means. He approaches a wide range of natural science topics encompassing biology, earth science, astronomy, and physics with an awe filled creationist approach. He is now preparing to write a second book to be entitled "A Christian Case for Creation Care to Combat Climate Change." Well known in his community for his leadership and service, Mr. Aiken also flourished as the coordinator of the Future Lifestyles Planners Program at the University of Minnesota, an elder at Bethany Presbyterian Church and a member of Mayor Latimer's Committee of 100.
A native of New Zealand, Mr. Aiken initially obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Canterbury in 1954. Subsequently, he continued his studies at the University of Canterbury with a bachelor's degree in engineering, with honors, in 1956 and a master's degree in engineering, with distinction, in 1958. Mr. Aiken subsequently completed postgraduate coursework in mechanical engineering at the University of Minnesota in 1983.
Mr. Aiken has affiliated with several industry-related organizations, including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the American Solar Energy Society, and the International Solar Energy Society. He was formerly treasurer of the Twin Cities Energy Engineers, and active as the policy committee chairman and treasurer of the Minnesota Renewable Energy Society. The recipient of a Minnesota Energy Design Award in 1979, he was later presented with a Honeywell Futurist Competition Award in 1983. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Aiken has been cited in several editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the Midwest.
