A teacher and coach with nearly 50 years to his credit, David B. Ginsberg retired in 2016 from 40 seasons of coaching basketball, all in Michigan.

A teacher and coach with nearly 50 years to his credit, Mr. Ginsberg retired in 2016 from 40 seasons of coaching basketball, all in Michigan. During his career, he has taught and coached in eight high schools, including Battle Creek Central, Grand Rapids Union, Swartz Creek, Flint Central, Traverse City St. Francis, and Traverse City West High Schools. From 1975 through 2001 Mr. Ginsberg was an assistant coach at Central Michigan University.
Mr. Ginsberg also served as an assistant principal at Flint Central High School before becoming Principal at Flint Southwestern Academy in Flint, MI. Additionally he worked as an independent contractor, created his own training firm, Management and Motivational Strategies, LLC, and spent years moving around America speaking to groups in a variety of settings. Mr. Ginsberg has also been renowned for his work as a facilitator and an activist for the Flint and Traverse City communities.
During Mr. Ginsberg's 40 seasons of coaching basketball, he had the opportunity to coach five men who subsequently played in the National Basketball Association, including All-Pros Dan Roundfield and Dan Majerle. Known for his passion and commitment, Mr. Ginsberg has provided his wealth of knowledge to thousands of people around the United States in the areas of education, self-discipline, coaching, management and conflict resolution.
Mr. Ginsberg notably pursued an education at Central Michigan University, earning a Bachelor of Science in education in 1968, a Master of Arts in secondary education in 1974, and finished all required classwork for a Specialist in Secondary Administration in 1996. He is also certified as a secondary schools administrator in Michigan since 1996 and a contract seminar leader since 2005. In 2012 he was appointed secretary/treasurer of the National High School Basketball Coaches Association (NHSBCA), an umbrella organization that works with high school coaches all over the United States. Moreover, Mr. Ginsberg has been an associate member of the Michigan Association of Secondary Schools Principals and a lifetime member of the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan, the Michigan Sports Sages, and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
Recently, Mr. Ginsberg was inducted into the NHSBCA Court of Honor in 2017 and the Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Honor in 2016. Furthermore, he was recognized as the Michigan A.P. Class C Coach of the Year (2009), Coach of the Year in the Big-9 Athletic Conference (1998), the Saginaw Valley Conference (2002), and the Big North Conference (2015). A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Ginsberg has been included in the 62nd and 63rd editions of Who's Who in America.
