Now retired from a successful career as a distribution company executive, Mr. Squires excelled as the president of Esquire Gas Products Company in Enfield, Connecticut, from 1987 to 2012 and the vice president for 15 years prior. Playing an instrumental role in his community for decades, Mr. Squires initially served as the chairman of the Western Massachusetts Secondary School Committee and the Western Massachusetts athletic recruiting committee at the University of Pennsylvania in 1974. Mr. Squires later served on the board of directors of multiple different nonprofit organizations including the Jewish Family Service of Greater Springfield between 1983 and 1986 and Goodwill Industries of the Springfield-Hartford Area from 1997 until 2003.
Additionally, Mr. Squires was active with the Springfield Jewish Endowment Foundation on its distribution committee. He has further volunteered his time with his wife, Nancy, with Rachel's Table in Springfield and was the co-chair of the Longmeadow High School 50th reunion. Mr. Squires was active with the Town of Enfield as a member of its local emergency planning committee. He was also a Red Cross certified first aid and CPR instructor from 1978 until 2017.
Known for his creative ability, Mr. Squires has been a singer in Mak'hela, the Jewish Chorus of Western Massachusetts, since 2003. He sang with the 1000-voice chorus for the Special Olympic World Games Opening Ceremony in New Haven, Connecticut, in 1995, and has sang The Star-Spangled Banner, O Canada, and G-d Bless America at over 400 events during his singing career throughout the eastern United States, including at Fenway Park before two Boston Red Sox baseball games, both nights of the American Hockey League All-Star Classic in 2019, TD Garden in Boston, Gillette Stadium, Mohegan Sun Arena, Florida spring training games for the Washington Senators, Houston Astros, and Detroit Tigers, the Palestra in Philadelphia, the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, Amway Center in Orlando, Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, MGM Springfield, World Team Tennis in four cities, numerous colleges and minor league teams, and at Ground Zero before the New York Police Department Counterterrorism Unit. Mr. Squires was also notably a torchbearer at the Olympic Torch Relay in Atlanta in 1996.
Prior to embarking upon his professional journey, Mr. Squires pursued an education at the University of Pennsylvania, from which he received a Bachelor of Arts in 1971. He subsequently completed postgraduate coursework at Temple University between 1971 and 1974. Following this achievement, Mr. Squires undertook an internship at the Office of U.S. Congressman Silvio O. Conte in Washington, D.C., during 1971.
Aligned with several professional organizations throughout his career, Mr. Squires worked as the district secretary for Rotary International and the president of the Enfield Rotary Club during the 1980s. He was also the president of the Western New England Alumni Club and the Western Massachusetts Alumni Club and vice president of the Class of 1971 at the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Squires is a life member of the National Audubon Society, the National Wildlife Federation and the Friends of Storrowton and a member of the University of Pennsylvania Alumni Association.
Honored with his wife Nancy with an award from the Lubavitcher Yeshiva Academy in 2011, Mr. Squires and his family was also a finalist for the Family Business of the Year Award by the University of Connecticut School of Business for 2003. Furthermore, he was named a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International in 1988 by his club and 2000 by District 7890. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Squires has been featured in over 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Finance and Business and Who's Who in Finance and Industry.
