Mr. Oliver has distinguished himself in the field of engineering as a senior systems programmer and assistant professor at Howard University. He initially became interested in electronics at a young age, his precocious curiosity regarding engineering first inspired by the gift of a toy train set. In his subsequent academic efforts, Mr. Oliver graduated from Howard University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1973, and further attained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1976.
From 1973 until 1974, Mr. Oliver found success as an engineering instructor at Litton Data Systems of Van Nuys, California. He joined the faculty of his alma mater, Howard University, in 1976, where he rose to the position of the director of the Computer Learning and Design Center between 1981 and 1985. Mr. Oliver concurrently became a consultant for Technology Associates Inc. in 1981, and an engineering curriculum consultant for Morgan State University in 1984. Between 1985 and 1989, Mr. Oliver served with the American Red Cross as a Technical Project Leader in establishing and conducting the system test plans for software applications that managed blood transfusions. Currently, Mr. Oliver continues to develop and integrate software applications for Howard University's Enterprise Technology Services Department.
Mr. Oliver is a frequent writer of articles for professional journals and has been invited to speak and present at numerous conferences and symposia in his field. Furthermore, he is a contributing author to "The Brotherhood of Drew Hall," published in 2013. Among other honors, he is a grantee of Hewlett Packard and Data General Corporation. Mr. Oliver is a member of the volunteer organization, Foundation 4 Heroes that visits mostly hospitals where children and veterans can see us dressed up as the superheroes they've come to enjoy.
