Mr. Nixon's interest in the legal field began when he was in elementary school while living in southern California during the O.J. Simpson Trial in the 1990s. After deciding to pursue a career in the legal field during his formative years, he earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from Andrews University in 2009. Subsequently, he graduated from the UIC John Marshall Law School with a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 2013. Since 2014, Mr. Nixon has been admitted to practice law by the New York State Bar Association.
At the beginning of his career, Mr. Nixon worked as a teaching assistant for the UIC John Marshall Law School while concurrently serving as a small business outreach coordinator for State Representative Ann Williams' Office in 2012. Subsequently, he contributed to the John Marshall Fair Housing Legal Clinic and Ed Fox & Associates in Illinois as a law clerk between 2012 and 2013. He later flourished as an attorney and a legal coordinator with the Fair Housing Justice Center in New York. Currently, Mr. Nixon excels as the vice president of diversity and inclusion with Andrews University as well as a seed investor with CommunityX, a social impact technology setup based in San Francisco.
An active member of his community, Mr. Nixon was previously involved with the establishment of an Office of Service and Social Action at the University of Saint Francis. He also dedicated his time as an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer and a law clerk for the Chicago office of the Council of American Islamic Relations while in law school. For his accomplishments in the field, he has been recognized among Moody on the Market's 40 Under 40 in 2019. Mr. Nixon also accepted the Andrews Academy Excellence in Diversity and completed the Leadership Accelerator program in 2019.
Mr. Nixon attributes his success to his parents. Notably, his father was a minister who introduced him to the power of belief, which has helped him along his journey. Likewise, his mother is an extremely hard worker. Their example of work ethic, intellect, and compassion for others is what has helped make Mr. Nixon who he is today.
