Cynthia Anglin has been named Elementary School Teacher of the Year five times by her peers.

Ms. Anglin is a retired music education specialist with 30 years of dedication to her students and craft in the elementary music classroom. She was inspired at an early age to pursue a career in music by her mother, a church music director and school music teacher. Ms. Anglin began playing the piano at a young age and developed a passion for using her musical talents to work with children by conducting children's choirs at her church. As she grew older, she directed youth choirs, then began accompanying young adult ensembles and adult choirs. Eventually she began playing the piano or singing solos for funerals, weddings and worship services. Ms. Anglin earned a Bachelor of Science in music education from the University of North Alabama in 1984. She continued her education at Kansas State University, where she attained a Master of Music in 1987.
From 1984 until 1985, Ms. Anglin excelled as a music education specialist at Eastway Elementary and Wood Elementary Schools of Columbus, Georgia. She became a graduate teaching assistant at Kansas State University between 1986 and 1987, and further maintained activity as an adjunct music professor at Athens State University from 1988 to 1993. She joined the staff of Athens City Schools in Athens, in 1988, teaching music at Athens Elementary School from 1988 until 1996, Brookhill Elementary School from 1989 to 2013, and James L. Cowart Elementary School between 1996 and 2002. Ms. Anglin was a music education specialist at Athens Intermediate School from 2001 until her retirement from public school education in 2017.
Since 1994, Ms. Anglin has been a church pianist at Trinity Baptist Church of Madison. In 2019, she was recognized by the congregation for her 25 years of faithful service. She has received numerous honors and citations for her work in the classroom, and has been named Elementary School Teacher of the Year five times by her peers. The individual schools who bestowed upon her this prestigious honor include Brookhill Elementary School, Athens Elementary School, and Athens Intermediate School on two separate occasions. In addition, Ms. Anglin was selected by Athens City Schools as the Athens City School System's Elementary Teacher of the Year. In her retirement, Ms. Anglin enjoys such avocations as playing the piano, reading and spending time with her family and friends.
