A distinguished senior financial planner, Mr. Strege established Syverson Strege in West Des Moines in 1997. An independent firm comprised of fee-only consultants who provide financial planning and investment management services, it provides custom financial plans based on every client's unique financial situation. Relying on several core values such as integrity and respect, Mr. Strege and his team assist individuals, families, empty nesters, business owners, executives and retirees. Prior to establishing his firm, he worked for several other organizations as a financial planner since 1981.
To facilitate his knowledge in philanthropic giving and stock-based compensation, Mr. Strege attends and speaks at various conferences, and has taught high school teachers how to teach personal finance at numerous workshops. He was also an adjunct faculty member at the College for Financial Planning between 1984 and 1987, as well as Drake University from 1986 until 1990. Mr. Strege has played an instrumental role in his community by providing stewardship as a board member of the National Endowment for Financial Education since 2013 and a personal finance instructor for the youth at Wildwood Hills Ranch since 2015. Other noteworthy roles to his credit have included volunteering with the Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines and serving as a board member for Iowa JumpStart.
Mr. Strege received a Bachelor of Science in business administration with a focus in finance at Drake University in 1981. While pursuing his degree, he notably collaborated with the dean of the business college to develop a course of study in personal finance planning for finance majors. Mr. Strege is a Certified Financial Planner Professional®, Chartered Financial Analyst and Certified Kingdom Advisor ®.
A former chapter president of the International Association for Financial Planning (now Financial Planning Association), Mr. Strege was also involved with the association as a national board member and practitioner advisory council member. He has also served on and chaired the Certified Financial Planner board and is a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors. Named as one of the Top Financial Planners in Iowa by Money magazine in 1987 and one of the Top Financial Planners in the U.S. by Worth magazine between 1996 and 1998, Mr. Strege also received the Ric Jorgenson Award in 1997 from the central Iowa chapter of the International Association of Financial Planning.
