An accomplished listee, Ms. Yarbrough celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Ms. Yarbrough grew up attending 3 different one room schools, Hesse School in Bond County, Kyle School in Madison County and Pierron School in Bond County and finally bussed to Highland Public High School in Highland, IL, Madison County for four years. The consolidation of the one room schools had just begun in 1950 with the bussing system in this area. Until that time the teachers would pick up children who needed rides. She eventually attended Southern Illinois University in her 30s on a scholarship from the state of Illinois. After taking an English and Geography Geo-Science class, Ms. Yarbrough fell in love with the discipline and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts in earth and environmental sciences. Rose was honored with a four year scholarship and graduated with honors in Phi Kappa Phi, which was established in 1897 and with admission with a GPA of 3.8-4.0 plus admission by invitation. From 1964 to 1970, Rose was employed as supervisor of Southern Illinois University's (SIUE) student union. After her (SIUE) graduation in 1974, she became a secondary-level earth science teacher for the Ferguson-Florissant School District in St. Louis, where she served until 1978. Between 1978 and 1980, Ms. Yarbrough taught for Fort Zumwalt School District in O'Fallon, Missouri. In 1980, she became a cartographer, programmer and analyst for the Defense Mapping Agency's Aerospace Center (DOD) in St. Louis, rising to cartographer and quality assurance manager from 1984 to 1987. Since 1987, Ms. Yarbrough has been executive vice president of Geo-Technical Associates Inc. in Collinsville, Illinois.

Rose then served as Secretary of this organization and received the SlUE Life Time Award. She has been honored by the United States Department of Defense (DOD) for her work developing the bureau's quality circles groups within the Quality Assurance Program. In addition, Rose served as a GS 12 on a Production Committee assigned by the General of the DOD and was honored with a respectful monetary award and plaque for that service. She has consulted for the state of Illinois on the environmental impact of a landfill project. Ms. Yarbrough became a member of the Geological Society of America, and was named as a co-author for the Association of American Geologists Field Manual in 1972. She also served as a life time member of the Southern Illinois University's (SIUE) Friends of Lovejoy Library and served as secretary and then SIUE President of the Friends of Lovejoy Library. She also received Lovejoy Library Lifetime membership. Rose was also named a Lifetime member of the SIUE Alumni Association. Rose served as President of the SIUE Geography Club and assisted in planning geological field trips for SIUE student members. Rose's genealogy hobby remains a part of her life today and she retains Lifetime membership with the St. Clair County, Illinois Genealogy Society.

Rose says her mother, Mrs. Gertrude Estelle "Scotchie" Powers Somraty was the person most important in helping her in her life's journey with her emphasis and support for Rose's education to finish high school. Rose was the eldest of eleven children in the family and this would set the example for the younger siblings to continue their education.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr. Yarbrough has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for information about this honor.
