A talented musician, Kay Ellen Woolridge was equally known for her passion for teaching as she was for her love of children.

Celebrating 30 wonderful years in education, Mrs. Woolridge taught music at Colonial Heights City Public Schools in Colonial Heights, Virginia between 1977 and 2007. A talented musician, she was equally known for her passion for teaching as she was for her love of children. She always showcased her students and their talents in concerts, educational journals, newspapers, and television. Some of her achievements include incorporating the computer into the music curriculum, instructing teachers how to create classroom websites, writing and directing the program for the City of Colonial Heights' celebration of the 400th Anniversary of Jamestown, Virginia, and being elected the 2000-2001 Teacher of the Year for Tussing Elementary School.
While coming of age, Mrs. Woolridge aspired to become a teacher following the same career path as many of her family and friends had before her. In pursuing this ambition, she attended Longwood University, from which she attained a Bachelor of Music Education Degree in 1977. One of the highlights of her teaching career was becoming a member of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary for Women Educators, an organization dedicated to educational excellence, altruism and world understanding. She was a charter member and past president of VA Gamma Eta Chapter (Chester, Virginia), International IT Support for websites created with TeacherWeb, VA State Music Chairman, VA Pocahontas District President, and Co-Author of the VA Alpha Delta Kappa Resource Manual for Establishing New Chapters. Mrs. Woolridge established two Virginia Chapters - VA Gamma Xi Chapter (Dinwiddie) and VA Gamma Pi Chapter (Prince George).
Mrs. Woolridge is active in her community as a member of The Heights Baptist Church in Colonial Heights, participates in mission work for the church as well as other organizations, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, substitutes for other church music departments, and gives vocal and instrumental concerts.
Mrs. Woolridge is also a celebrated Marquis listee who has been showcased in the 26th and 27th editions of Who's Who of American Women.
