An acclaimed legal professional, Mr. Walters serves as a litigation associate with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP in its Albuquerque office. He works in the firm's general liability, employment, and corporate practices. He also handles a variety of real estate and collection cases such as commercial real estate disputes, contested business collection suits, and contested residential foreclosures. Prior to joining the firm, he worked for Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP between 2013 and 2019. During the first year of his legal career, Mr. Walters served as a law clerk for United States District Court Judge James O. Browning of the District of New Mexico.
Before he began practicing law, Mr. Walters received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin in 2008 and his Juris Doctor from Baylor Law School in 2011. Subsequently, he was admitted to practice law in the State Bars of New Mexico and Texas, the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Mr. Walters has authored a number of law review articles, including the following: (1) How to Tell a Fake: Fighting Back Against Fake News on the Front Lines of Social Media, 23 Tex. Rev. L. & Pol. 111 (2018); (2) When Can You Shoot the Messenger? Understanding the Legal Protections for Entities Providing Information on Business Products and Services in the Digital Age, 96 Or. L. Rev. 185 (2017); and (3) Provoking Preemption: Why State Laws Protecting the Right to a Union Secret Ballot Election Are Preempted by the NLRA, 52 Santa Clara L. Rev. 1031 (2012). For his outstanding accomplishments, he received the Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell, LLP Writing Excellence Award in 2011 and was named as a National Merit Finalist in 2004.
