Since 2014, Dr. Tobin has worked as the principal investigator for nine human clinical research trials evaluating treatments for migraines including galcanezumab, lasmiditan, urbrogepant, as well as combination rizatriptan and rapid dissolving meloxicam. His presentation "Clinical Research from the Principle Investigator's Perspective" was part of the launch of three clinical trials; he was the presenting author of the poster "Galcanezumab Significantly Reduced Health Care Resource Utilization and Acute Medication Use in Patients with Chronic Migraine," and he coauthored "Response to Lasmiditan for Acute Treatment of Migraine Based on Prior Response to Triptan Therapy."
Dr. Tobin earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from Harvey Mudd College, and a Doctor of Medicine from Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his neurology residency at Barrow Neurological Institute. Early in his career, Dr. Tobin gained valuable expertise as a staff neurologist, and later as the officer-in-charge of the neurology and dermatology clinic at Carl R. Darnell Medical Center, while also serving as assistant professor at Texas A&M University College of Medicine. In Iraq, he was the battalion surgeon for 2-12 CAV, a tank battalion. He later served as a reviewer with the Journal of Head and Face Pain. He has served on multiple advisory boards and speakers' bureaus.
