CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OH, February 20, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Diane Grabowski Scillia has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Having accrued more than 50 years of practiced expertise in artistic education, Dr. Scillia retired from her role as a professor of art history at Kent State University, having held this role from 2003 until 2018. Though retired, she still continues her research on Barthelemy d'Eyck. Previously, she worked for the University as an associate professor and assistant professor. During the early-1980s, she gained valuable expertise in the field as an adjunct assistant professor for Old Dominion University and Virginia Wesleyan College.
Throughout her career, Dr. Scillia has served as an adjunct curator and assistant to the director of the Chrysler Museum of Art, and as a visiting lecturer with Franklin and Marshall College and Case Western Reserve University. She initially began in the field as a research assistant at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Before entering the field, Dr. Scillia earned a Bachelor of Arts from Stony Brook University in 1967. Subsequently, she received a Doctor of Philosophy from Case Western Reserve University in 1975. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, she affiliated herself with the College Art Association, the Midwest Art History Society, the Scholars of Early Modern Europe, and Historians of Netherlandish Art, which she founded. With a plethora of knowledge at her disposal, she has contributed to several articles in professional journals, as well as chapters in books, including "Looking for Fun in All the Wrong Places: Humour and Comedy in Moralizing Prints," "A World of Art, Politics, Passion and Betrayal: Trotsky, Rivera and Breton and Manifesto: Towards a Free Revolutionary Art (1938)," "Stimuli to Invention: New Technologies, New Audiences, New Images" and "Gerard David & Manuscript Illumination in the Low Countries, 1480-1509." Additionally, Dr. Scillia was asked to present a paper for an exhibition at the Cleveland Museum of Art in 2018.
In light of her professional accomplishments, Dr. Scillia won the Juror Travel Awards through the National Endowment of the Humanities in 1991. More recently, she was featured in two editions of Who's Who of American Women and received the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. Looking ahead to the future, Dr. Scillia intends to continue conducting research on Barthelemy d'Eyck, while enjoying her retirement.
