Excelling in a field which is both challenging and rewarding, Mr. Alan D. Moyer hired women for positions that were typically filled by their male counterpart.
GLENDALE, AZ, February 21, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Alan D. Moyer with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Moyer celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Leading an impressive career in communications which has spanned nearly 40 years, Mr. Moyer retired in 1989 as a managing editor for Arizona Republic, a daily newspaper published in Phoenix. Circulated throughout Arizona, it is the state's largest newspaper, owned by Gannett. Prior to Mr. Moyer's six years of service with the paper, he found success as a managing editor for the Phoenix Gazette and the Wichita Eagle. He also served in various other capacities for other publications, beginning in 1950 as a reporter and copy editor with the Wisconsin State Journal in Madison.
Excelling in a field which is both challenging and rewarding, Mr. Moyer hired women for positions that were typically filled by their male counterpart. Giving females an equal opportunity in the field was as rewarding for him as it was them. Outside of his full-time commitments, Mr. Moyer served as the president and director of Wichita Professional Baseball, Inc., from 1969 to 1974. He also served on the juries for Pulitzer Prize recipients in 1973, 1985 and 1988.
First introduced to journalism while in high school, Mr. Moyer was a staff member of his school newspaper. He subsequently attended the University of Iowa, from which he attained a Bachelor of Arts in journalism in 1950. To remain aware of developments in his field, he has been a member and former director of the Associated Press Managing Editors (APME) and the American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE). The APME was later renamed the Associated Press Media Editors. In September of 2018, the APME and ASNE voted to merge, becoming the News Leaders Association (NLA). He is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, formerly known as Sigma Delta Chi. While in Wichita, he served as a member and director of the Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Moyer has been included in more than 60 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in Finance and Business.
